Good morning all,
Would like to mention a few ideas I'm working on. Since they're "co-mingled", decided this is the best place to practice my early AM typing.
The Cold War Museum is planning a September opening for its actual physical plant. Wriinge here from my new-fangled telegraph key in Virginia, I see this museum as a key vehicle for us to get exposure of our national group. The benefit would be mutual.
The museum collects donated Cold War related stuff. Their website displays some USAF unit patches.
I'm tinkering around with the idea...it will require Mick's approval in capacity as our National Commander.....with donating a patch or decal I have of a Cold War airline. I'd frame it in a decent-looking prefab frame and order a laminated plastic (uniform name tag stuff) plate to read something like:
Contributed by Allied Forces Cold War Veterans Association
Mick's full name (formal or nickname), Nat'l Cdr.
My name, AFCWVA Museum Liasion
Our address(Postal + web)
This would be donated, if approved, well after the museum opens next month.
.........
I also noted at the Museum's website, they have a Cold War journal and a webpage link to short articles on CW topics.
My idea(s):
-Mick and I write something formal for their Journal...with complete identification of AFCWVA.
-I will help a younger member co-author a short article for their website. Teachers, assistant professors, military, frequently like to publish stuff for career enhancement. I am retired and have no need but can help get one of our member's show up in print - along with AFCWVA publicity...with contact info, of course.
Above are not thoughts chiseled in granite; just some ideas to further Cold War history concurrent with our association's development.
Seeking thoughts.
Warm regards,
Bob
