www.sacbee.com/2011/08/19/3848379/carnegie-council-project-offers.htmlGood morning all, Above links to a current article on the Cold War. I am not a supporter of Carnegie Council.....just posting something recent w/ some Cold War material in it. As an aside, I believe Andrew Carnegie was a Civil War draft dodger. He paid the fee to avoid military service. ...... Whenever I post something here does not mean my endorsement, my support for the organization or my belief that the material is accurate, etc, etc. I personally believe in truth, justice, everyone getting along, everyone having a nice home in Malibu, etc, etc. Meanwhile, back at the perimeter, ...... , "People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell ... Warm regards, Bob

Bob,
Great post. Interesting comment by Orwell. I've read that on the net somewhere. The same comment was made during the movie A FEW GOOD MEN, when the REMF attorneys bring down a Marine Colonel for the hazing death of an enlisted man.
"Someone, somewhere is standing a post for you, in a place you dont even know about!"
I think the same comment was made about in the movie about Captain Queeg - but the general perception is clear: during the Cold War - we walked a post all over the earth so that we could be free.
