Good morning all,
Some semi-incoherent, unorganized comments re the subject line I highlighted with the = marks along w/ the quotes......
Again, this is unorganized rambling.
There are some small schools of thought (I belong) that call the French 1945 to 1954 war the French Indochina War and that this was followed by the:
2nd Indochina War, 1954-1975.
It was this 2nd war that we know as the "Vietnam War".
Of course all this was just one aspect of the overall Cold War.
Do recall, just prior to the US entering Vietnam, the US had a secret military defeat of Indonesia's Sarkarno and the P.K.I. (Indonesian Communist Party). Indonesia allowed for the use of the term "Domino" re the massive mobilization for US entry into the void filled when the French left Indochina.
For researchers, the US person's name that opens up the neglected (supressed?) Indonesia conflict was Allen Pope.
Pope was a pilot who served in the Korean War and also fought in the French Indochina War. More accurately, he fought OVER the war, dropping supplies to the French. He was part of the US contingent in support of the French.
Warm regards,
Bob

Georges Masson:
Bienvenue mon ami!
Welcome George.
The Jeds played a vital role on DDAY (as well as the SAS Brigade, compoosed of British and French and Belgian Para's) in striking the rear of the Wehrmacht to slow the panzers assault on the DDAY beachheads.
Please post your father's history!

A veteran of the war in Indochina committed suicide, in solidarity with the Hmong
A veteran of the war in Indochina committed suicide, in solidarity with the Hmong A retired colonel, commander of the Legion of Honor, killed himself at the foot of the memorial in Indochina Dinan (Ille-et-Vilaine) for denounce the "indifference" of the authorities to the plight of the Hmong minority in Laos, the daily Ouest France reported on Monday.
Robert JAMBON 86, was killed Oct. 27 by taking his "last shot" in the words in a letter of explanation, which he expressed his "share of shame" against "the cowardly indifference of our leaders face the terrible plight of our friends "Hmong, the newspaper said.
Former Indochina, Colonel JAMBON had tried for a quarter of a century to draw attention to the plight of the Hmong minority Christian and pro-Western victim, he said, a "genocide" since the advent of communist regimes in Laos and Vietnam in 1975.
Mr. Ham, who had fought alongside Hmong during the Indochina War (1950-1954), was particularly outraged by the weak reaction of France and the United States to the expulsion of Thailand, December 2009 of 4,731 Hmong refugees who fled communist Laos, the newspaper said.
Repression of the Hmong in Vietnam and Laos is regularly denounced by human rights organizations of human rights as Human Rights Watch
