Good morning all, There is both a website and physical plant location of a national Cold War museum. The website is: www.coldwar.orgThe museum is physically located at Vint Hill, Virginia. From memory, this is around northern Virginia. Vint Hill had been a "quiet" US Army facility doing some Cold War stuff. Of course, the squad assembled here knows darn well MUCH is omitted from the public display of the Cold War. The public would panic. Warm regards, Bob

Good morning all,
On Sunday, worked on planning a Monday AM trip to the Cold War museum....about 3-4+ hours from here (obviously, w/o traffic; otherwise this place is like the Katy parking lot, Houston to Katy).
The museum might not as yet have a physical plant at the old commo station, Vint Hill.
My Sunday planning had me calling their county visitor center. When I posed my question if the place was yet open to the public; "I don't know" was the reply. At least, it's still clear that American society is still in decay. Historicly, local visitor centers were staffed with people familiar with their local visitor attractions.
Also wrote to the Museum's e-contact address. No reply as yet. Their phone line was an answering machine only. I avoid most all use of the phone because of a partial hearing loss (artillery, Vietnam) thus I did not leave a return number.
This museum is probably the common denominator that CWV must research. They, too, are pushing a Cold War medal. Having a personality like the son of Francis Gary Powers testify before Congress on the proposed medal does wonders for support.
..........
Will follow up on the museum and report here.
Again ,let me mention I am not an assoc. member; only a forum participant. I've had some major negative experiences with 2 national vet organizations and this made me ultra-prudent in re joining any vet organization until completely comfortable from a mental perspective.
Warm regards,
Bob

Subj: SITREP (Translation: Subject: Situation Report.)
Good morning all,
The Cold War Museum is scheduled to open it's actual physical plant facility in September. I do not have a date. Had learned of their Sep opening from the Warrington-Faquier County, Virginia Visitor Center. Vint Hill, the former US Army commo station where the museum is housed, is within this county.
With the assistance of Providence and scheduling + weather (Rain never melted a soldier but I'm now a veteran) I'm hoping to attend the opening of the place.
My emails to the museum have not been answered. Am getting decent info from the Visitor Center.
Will keep you briefed.
Warm regards,
Bob

Just received an email from the Cold War Museum chairman.
They plan to open in September but a date has not been finalized. They are still busy with development.
I will be informed as soon as date established.
Will keep you briefed as matters develop.

Hi Mick,
Yes, will try to meet with them.
Of course any meeting will follow with report here.
My hunch is that their delay in opening has something to do with the national election keeping everyone busy.
Warm regards,
Bob

Bob,
Thanks.
Stay in touch with FGP Jr. and the museum. As long as we have a link to them thats great.
We will continue to "meet" by email and once we have found a location to MEET (in person) we can upload the location if anyone else wishes to join our merry band!
